Mobile money first

In Ghana, mobile money is how many customers pay. MTN Mobile Money is built into LoungeOS checkout. The cashier selects it and records the transaction ID from the confirmation message. Payments from other wallets and bank apps can be recorded under card or bank transfer. Groups can split one bill across MoMo, cash and card.

Configure LoungeOS for Ghana

• Currency: the cedi (GHS) is built in.
• VAT and levies: LoungeOS supports several tax rates, so you can configure VAT and each levy that applies to your business as separate lines and choose the default for checkout. Rates and rules change, so confirm the current ones with the Ghana Revenue Authority or your accountant.
• Receipts: your business name, location, phone number and logo on every receipt.

Dumsor-proof service

Put the host computer and the Wi-Fi router on a small UPS or inverter, or use a laptop as the host. Phones run on battery. LoungeOS doesn’t need internet during service, so a power cut that also takes down your ISP doesn’t stop orders reaching the kitchen and bar. See offline POS.

Frequently asked questions

Can LoungeOS request MoMo payments from customers automatically?

Not at the moment. LoungeOS records MoMo payments with their transaction ID. The customer pays to your merchant number and the cashier enters the reference.

Can I track beer by the bottle?

Yes. Each drink is a stock item with its own unit, cost and minimum level, and every bottle that leaves without a sale must be recorded as damage, waste or loss.

Is there a percentage fee on sales?

No. LoungeOS is a flat subscription. Mobile money and card fees are charged by your operator or bank.

Does it support English?

Yes. The interface is available in English and French.
