What LoungeOS is

LoungeOS is a point of sale (POS) and management system for restaurants, bars, lounges, nightclubs, cafés and hotels. It runs on a Windows computer inside the venue and connects waiters’ phones, kitchen and bar screens and the cashier over the venue’s own Wi-Fi. Service keeps running when the internet is down. It combines ordering, kitchen and bar displays, inventory, staff permissions and audit logs, mobile money payments and double-entry accounting in a single application.

Why we built it

Hospitality businesses in Cameroon and across much of Africa share two problems. First, internet and power are not reliable enough to depend on during a Saturday night rush. Second, without strict controls, cash and stock leak through deleted items, unapproved discounts and missing bottles, and nobody can say where the money went. Cloud POS systems designed for markets with reliable broadband handle the first problem with limited “offline modes”, often charge per device, and sometimes require hardware that is hard to buy or repair locally.

LoungeOS is designed around three principles:

1. Offline first. The venue’s own computer is the server. The internet is optional during service.
2. Accountability by design. Every role sees only what it needs, sensitive actions need a manager, and every action is logged.
3. Use the hardware you have. Any phone, tablet or PC with a browser is a terminal, with no per-device fees.

Who uses LoungeOS

LoungeOS is designed for independent restaurants, bars, snack bars, lounges, nightclubs, cafés and fast-food outlets, and for the food-and-beverage outlets of hotels. The interface is available in English and French. Built-in currencies include the CFA franc (XAF), naira (NGN), cedi (GHS), US dollar, euro and pound sterling, and you can add others.

The team

LoungeOS is developed in Cameroon under the technical supervision of Sunyin Elisbrown Sigala. Customers are supported by email and phone in English and French.
